What is Arts Therapy?
There is strong scientific evidence that the arts heal...
Arts Therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses the arts alongside talking as its main form of expression and communication.
I am trained in the therapeutic use of several art forms. I completed my training at the Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education, London.
Photography or creative writing journalling can be used to support the therapeutic process. Painting and illustration can be used to work through big, hard feelings in a safe, contained way. Creative writing can help us to find out and express how we truly feel about an issue, can allow us to say on the page what we might never say out loud, and bring closure on difficult events and relationships. Music can be used as another language to express emotions that words cannot reach.
