FOR PEOPLE SEEKING THERAPY:
I provide both time-limited and long-term counselling, coaching and art therapy. Currently these services are offered online, via a secure platform. This means more flexibility in terms of time of day. All you need is a smartphone, PC or laptop, a decent internet connection, and a private space to talk. If you would like to take up arts therapy, I will advise you on what materials you might need.
I am trained to use the arts as an additional tool to help and empower you to overcome your barriers to healing and recovery. No artistic skill is neccessary for the arts to be useful in the therapeutic process, and while I might invite you to experiment with the arts, I will never insist.

HOW CAN I HELP?
As a trained, registered therapist I can help with many issues including recovering from childhood abuse, Complex PTSD, low mood, depression and anxiety.
I also possess specific skills and experience in recovering from addictions. I can help if you are, or think you may be, struggling with addiction or problem use, or are worried your use may be getting beyond your control, in areas including gaming, internet & social media addiction, gambling, substance abuse, problem drinking, club drugs, sex addiction and pornography. Often our struggles with addiction are the result of adverse childhood experiences. Sometimes, through an addiction, we can be looking for a way to heal past traumas. However, I take the stance, that not all alternative sexual acts are a perversion or a source of concern. And not all drug use equates to addiction. You may just feel you need a non-judgemental person to talk things through with.
I can help if you are experiencing depression or anxiety, PTSD, or want to come to terms with childhood trauma. And I can help if you are struggling with self harm, suicidal thoughts, or grief due to the loss of a friend or loved one to suicide.
A PERSON-CENTRED APPROACH
In therapy, we focus on you, a person, in a room with me, another person. I strive to help you understand your own needs better. I don't presume to be able to offer 'solutions', but can help you find your own.
ONLINE COUNSELLING & ART THERAPY SESSIONS
Life throws us many challenges. Sometimes past traumas are buried for the sake of 'getting on with it' because we just can't find the time or energy to deal with it, only for the trauma to re-emerge later, in unexpected ways. Sometimes, something happens, that rips your world apart: a sudden death, the loss of a job, or something you just can't put your finger on.
Sometimes we've grown with the belief we need to 'man up', 'pattern up', 'just deal with it'; and that people like us don't talk to others about our issues. And we're left to deal with things alone.
Sometimes we may have family situations where we feel we 'need to be the strong one', and this has left no time or space for us to attend to our own needs or issues.
Sometimes, for all sorts of reasons, it is just easier to talk to a 'stranger', than it is friends and family.
I am fully trained in both face to face and online counselling and therapy. During the Covid-19 crisis, I continue to provide an online service in a safe, shame-free, comfortable, confidential online space. Here, we will build a secure, trust-based, therapeutic relationship, within which we can work through your problems, break through old patters of relating, and you can begin to create your new life story. Therapy can take place on an instant messaging platform, through video call via Zoom, or on the phone (voice only). Each form of therapy has its unique benefits, and there are some challenges to be aware of. When we meet for a consultation we will discuss these and decide between us which form of therapy would be best for you and your circumstances.
If writing, music, film or art is something you feel might help, we can use these tools too, regardless of artistic talent or ability.
CREATIVE COACHING SESSIONS
As a writer and artist, I have a passion for working with others to overcome fears and blocks that stop them from creating, or from getting where they want to be in their creative endeavours, and for helping performers cope with the many pressures that can arise in pursuing your dreamor work through what is holding them back from making that leap to become a 'professional artist'. I am a Creativity Coach and have worked with theatre companies and performing arts colleges to empower artists and performers to be the best they can be.
Creative Coaching sessions are time-limited and goal-oriented, and more psycho-educational than counselling, meaning we can use practical skills and exercises to help you remove blocks to performance and creativity. We set the length of time for coaching together. It can be anything from 6 weeks to a year or longer, depending on your goals.
You might be a working parent who has always wanted to create, but just can't seem to find the time, or the confidence. You might be a performer with stage fright or performance anxiety; or an actor wondering whether you should give up trying, and 'go and get a proper job'. You may be ready to finally take the leap into a creative career, but are worried about the emotional and financial risks this entails. Maybe recent rejections have knocked your confidence; or you just can't seem to finish a project; you're afraid of failure; feel as if you're living in the shadow of your parents' success; feel like an 'imposter' in your creative career, or are struggling to deal with the many social pressures of being a professional performer, and want to find more positive coping strategies.
Whatever the issue, together we can find and understand the source of it, transform your block into rich material for your creative work; and unlock your courage to create, and keep on creating.
If it is addiction, PTSD, Childhood trauma, depression, anxiety, suicide grief, or a creative block you’re struggling with, I’m here to help you achieve your goals. The first 50 minute consultation session is always free. You and me can decide in this session, if we can work together. Clients with ADHD, Autism or Dyslexia are very welcome.
Session fees are usually £60 and are offered on a sliding scale.
